An accident occurred along the EDSA Busway in Cubao, Quezon City, when a woman was struck and killed by a bus while crossing the southbound lane of the busway.
The victim, a vendor, was run over by an Admiral Bus. As of the latest report, her body remains covered by a cardboard near the site of the accident.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Traffic Division reported that the bus driver did not see the woman as she suddenly crossed the road. Authorities noted that there is no designated pedestrian crossing in the area, and while a footbridge is available, it is located a significant distance away.
The incident caused severe traffic congestion as buses were halted at the scene. Traffic backed up all the way to the EDSA Kamuning flyover.
To ease the gridlock, buses were rerouted to regular lanes used by private vehicles.
