TIP welcomes new president
Published on:

The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) announced recently the appointment of Angelo Quirino Lahoz as its new president and the announcement was made by TIP chairperson Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz during the school’s 63rd anniversary celebration last 21 February 2025.

Agelo Quirino Lahoz is the son of Dr. Quirino-Lahoz and Angel Lahoz, and the grandson of TIP founders, Engr. Demetrio Quirino and Dr. Teresita Quirino. He previously served TIP as assistant vice president for administration for 15 years and later as senior vice president and vice chairman for eight years.

Lahoz, who has been involved in the institution's business affairs, is expected to continue his grandparents' legacy while incorporating a modern approach focused on constructivism.

His educational philosophy emphasizes "learning by doing," which is reflected in the establishment of TIP TechnoCoRe. This initiative promotes technopreneurship and industry-academe collaborative applied research.

Through TechnoCoRe, TIP facilitates partnerships between students and faculty with industry leaders on collaborative projects. This hands-on experience aims to foster real-world technopreneurship skills and has resulted in several T.I.P.-developed patents reaching the market.

The program also provides opportunities for networking and expanded perspectives for students and faculty.

Lahoz holds a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Ateneo De Manila University (2000) and a master's degree in Management with distinction from the Asian Institute of Management (2006). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Education, majoring in Educational Administration, at the University of the Philippines.

An entrepreneur, Lahoz also serves as president and CEO of SEBI, T.I.P.'s spin-off company that provides integrated school management systems. He is also involved in the broader academic community, including serving as assistant treasurer for Edustria High School, an educational partnership between FEU and TIP.
