The Embassy of Malaysia in Manila recently hosted a vibrant and heartwarming Aidilfitri Open House, marking the conclusion of Ramadan and celebrating the spirit of Eid with the Malaysian community in the Philippines, as well as esteemed guests from the Philippine government, diplomatic corps and business sectors.

The event, held at the Ambassador’s residence, was a beautiful fusion of culture, unity and hospitality, showcasing the deep-rooted ties between Malaysia and the Philippines.

The festivities began with the traditional Eid prayer, setting the tone for a day filled with gratitude and celebration.

Following the prayer, the Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, delivered a heartfelt speech that resonated with the themes of unity and inclusivity.

“Hari Raya is a time when we are reminded of the strength of unity that is deeply ingrained in our Malaysian identity. Whether Malay, Chinese, Indian, or from any other background, we come together as one big family to celebrate.”

It was a powerful reminder of the strength that diversity brings to the Malaysian identity, both within the country and among the diaspora abroad.

Castelino also encouraged Malaysian entrepreneurs to seize business opportunities to further enhance the economic ties between Malaysia and the Philippines, urging the youth to step forward and play an active role in shaping the future of both nations.

He called on all Malaysians in the Philippines to embrace their roles as ambassadors, fostering goodwill and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a gesture of appreciation, the ambassador also extended his gratitude to the Filipino people for their continuous warmth and hospitality, which has made Malaysians feel at home.

The celebration was not only a diplomatic gathering but also a culinary delight, as guests were treated to an array of Malaysian delicacies that showcased the country’s rich and diverse culinary heritage.

Dishes such as satay, nasi impit, ketupat, kuah kacang, lemang and karipap were served, prepared by the embassy’s officers, their spouses, and the talented Chef Ammar Syafiq bin Ayob.
