The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has produced traffic violation tickets to substantiate its claim that it penalized 15 jeepneys belonging to transport group Manibela during their 26 March protest in San Juan City.

All eyes are now on Valbuena to see if he will honor his pledge to withdraw from the senatorial race following the MMDA’s evidence disclosure.

The evidence presentation came in response to Manibela chairman Mar Valbuena’s challenge that he would withdraw his senatorial bid if MMDA chairman Romando Artes could prove the agency issued tickets during the demonstration.

Valbuena had earlier questioned the MMDA’s motives, claiming no citations were given when members of his group blocked portions of Connecticut Street near EDSA as part of their protest against government transport policies.

The MMDA maintained it enforced traffic laws properly, citing violations for illegal parking and obstruction during the rally that disrupted an alternative route for motorists.

Valbuena and Manibela have yet to issue any response to the MMDA’s presentation of ticket copies.
