Subic Bay Freeport — The Bureau of Customs (BoC) Port of Subic and representatives from the United States recently held a meeting to discuss the efficient processing of US Naval Ships (USNS) transporting cargo for the upcoming Balikatan Exercises.
The meeting, led by District Collector Atty. Marlon Fritz B. Broto of the BoC Port of Subic, took place at the BoC office in Subic.
In a social media post on Saturday morning, Broto shared that he met with Major Javier Perez and Robert Smith, US representatives.
The discussion focused on streamlining customs procedures to ensure the timely and secure arrival of military cargo.
Broto emphasized that the effort to streamline the customs process supports the US military’s participation in the Balikatan Exercises.
Topics covered during the meeting included pre-arrival coordination, cargo documentation and inspection protocols, all aimed at ensuring compliance with customs regulations while maintaining smooth logistical operations.
“The Bureau of Customs fully supports the Balikatan Exercises as a symbol of our enduring alliance with the United States. We will ensure that all vessels and cargoes are processed efficiently and in accordance with the law,” Broto stated.
This collaboration aligns with the 5-Point Priority Program of BoC Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, which emphasizes strengthening border security and enhancing trade facilitation through inter-agency and international cooperation.
The Port of Subic is expected to receive several USNS vessels in the coming days as preparations for the exercise intensify.
