A truck carrying construction materials overturned on Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Saturday night, leaving its driver injured. The accident occurred past 9 PM as the vehicle, en route from Meycauayan, Bulacan, to Las Piñas, was navigating a turn from the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Connector.
CCTV footage captured the moment the truck lost control and tipped over while making a right turn. Emergency responders from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) quickly arrived at the scene, assisting the driver and his assistant out of the wreckage.
The driver sustained injuries to his thigh and shoulder and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, his assistant, who escaped unharmed, recounted that the truck's brakes had failed before the accident.
Authorities towed the truck to the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) past midnight for further investigation. Officials are currently assessing whether the accident caused damage to public or private property, which could determine any potential charges against the driver.
