ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) has hired over 600 highly qualified teachers and non-teaching staff to enhance the learning experience for students in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal announced on Thursday that 628 newly hired teachers and non-teaching staff officially took their oaths during a mass swearing-in ceremony at the Cotabato State University (CotSU) gymnasium in Cotabato City.
Iqbal reported that the group included 521 elementary school teachers, 29 of whom were promoted, 57 secondary school teachers, 10 of whom were promoted, and 11 non-teaching staff members.
“As you take your oath today, remember that this is more than just a formal pledge — it is a commitment to serve with excellence, uphold the trust given to you, and always strive for the betterment of the Bangsamoro people,” Minister Iqbal told the new hires.
He also emphasized their responsibility: “You are entrusted with the task of molding young minds, instilling knowledge, values, and a deep love for learning.”
This large-scale hiring effort is part of MBHTE’s goal to improve student learning experiences by employing highly qualified teachers and providing them with the necessary skills and training. The newly hired teachers will be deployed in various schools under the Maguindanao del Sur School Division, particularly in areas with limited educational resources.
“The recruitment process ensured that our new teachers have the skills and qualifications needed to provide innovative and exceptional education,” Iqbal said.
Applicants underwent rigorous assessments, including qualification reviews, teaching demonstrations, interviews and written examinations during the selection process.
With their oath as a guiding principle, the newly appointed educators are set to have a lasting impact on students’ lives and the future of the Bangsamoro people.
This continued hiring effort underscores the Bangsamoro Education Ministry’s commitment to creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment for students across the region.
