President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the inspection of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 3 in General Trias, Cavite, on Friday.
According to MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), handling the project, Subsection 3 is currently at 44 percent completion and is scheduled to open by the third quarter of 2025.
Once operational, the segment will decongest Governor’s Drive and provide seamless access to major economic hubs in the region.
It also aims to ease traffic on major thoroughfares such as Aguinaldo Highway and Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, further boosting trade, tourism, and economic activity in the area.
After its completion, travel time between CAVITEX and SLEX will be reduced by around 45 minutes, benefiting up to 95,000 motorists daily.
Marcos was accompanied by Department of Public Works and Highway Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Cavite Governor Athena Tolentino, General Trias Mayor Luis Ferrer, MPTC chairperson Manuel V. Pangilinan, MPTC president and CEO Jose Ma. Lim and MPT South officer-in-charge Ms. Elnora Rumawak.
CALAX is a 44.6-kilometer four-lane expressway and a Public-Private Partnership project.
Meanwhile, operational segments of CALAX include the Mamplasan entry and interchanges at Laguna Boulevard, Laguna Technopark, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East and Silang Aguinaldo.
