Unruly flyers can interrupt and delay flights to the great inconvenience of the other passengers. There have been many reports of disturbances that forced pilots to make emergency landings at the nearest airport or return to where the plane took off.
The case of a Venezuelan traveler who disrupted a Latam Airlines flight to Concepcion, Chile from El Tefual Airport in Puerto Montes in the same country last 3 March was crazy though.
The man stormed onto the runway and blocked an aircraft preparing to take off in an apparent attempt to get on board after he had missed his flight, according to reports.
A video of the incident showed the man waving at the pilots in the cockpit, signaling them to stop and let him get on board, before security staff dragged him away and turned him over to police, the reports said.
In another case of flight disruption, an Air India plane was en route from Chicago, USA to New Delhi, India on 3 March when it turned back about halfway into its 10-hour journey.
A spokesperson of the airline later told CNN the reason for the turnaround.
Eight of the 12 toilets were found “unserviceable,” causing discomfort to all on board Flight AI126, according to the spokesperson.
Investigators found the plumbing of the toilets clogged with “polythene bags, rags, and clothes” that passengers had flushed down.
