Police Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief, on Friday urged Veronica “Kitty” Duterte to file a formal complaint following her claim that her top was torn during the arrest of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Ireklamo niya kung gusto niya (She can file a complaint if she wants to),” Torre said in a radio interview.
On Wednesday, Kitty posted a photo on her Instagram account showing her beige long-sleeve turtleneck dress with a tear near the top.
“This is the result of the harassment they did to my family and I today. Done by the supposed protectors of this country,” she wrote.
“Nakita ko yun eh, kung gaano kalaki (I saw how big it was),” said Torre. “Sabi ko, ‘Wow, ang laki naman ng punit pala. Grabe, parang kailangan pang hanapin para makikita niya.’ (I said, ‘Wow, the tear is really big. She’d have to really look to see it’).”
He said he was unsure if the tear was recent or had been there for some time.
The former president was arrested on his arrival from Hong Kong last Tuesday morning and flown to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, that night to face charges of crimes against humanity allegedly committed during his administration’s bloody war on drugs.
