The Embassy of Malaysia in Manila celebrated the spirit of Ramadan on 13 March, with its annual Bubur Lambuk Program, sharing a beloved Malaysian dish with friends and partners in the Philippines.
Now in its third year, the event highlighted Bubur Lambuk, a flavorful rice porridge cooked with meat, spices and vegetables.
The dish holds deep cultural significance in Malaysia, where it is traditionally prepared in large batches and shared with family, friends and the community during the fasting month.
It embodies the true essence of Ramadan — generosity, unity and togetherness.
This year’s Bubur Lambuk was prepared by Embassy Chef Ammar Syafiq Ayob, along with Embassy staff and spouses, at the Ambassador’s Official Residence.
The warm, comforting dish was sent to distinguished addresses, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Cabinet secretaries, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and friends of Malaysia.
Over bowls of Bubur Lambuk, guests not only experienced a taste of Malaysian tradition but also engaged in meaningful conversations, strengthening friendships between Malaysia and the Philippines.
The event was a celebration of culture, diplomacy and the simple yet powerful act of sharing a meal.
H.E. Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Malaysia’s Ambassador to the Philippines, expressed his commitment to continuing the Bubur Lambuk Program in the coming years.
“Food has a unique way of bringing people together. Through this tradition, we not only share a piece of Malaysia but also reinforce the bonds of friendship between our nations,” he said.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Manila actively promotes cultural exchange through various programs and events.
By sharing Bubur Lambuk, the embassy offered more than just a meal — they shared a tradition, a story and a message of community and goodwill.
