University of Perpetual Help System Dalta came up with yet another masterful performance following an 85-78 win over Jose Rizal University in Season 100 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association junior basketball tournament yesterday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Lebron Jhames Daep led the way, delivering 15 points and eight rebounds to power the Junior Altas to their fifth win in six matches.
Daep also shot 3-of-4 from the rainbow area while JD Pagulayan, Jim Corpuz and Jericho Cristino posted 13 markers apiece to put Perpetual on top of the team standings.
Icee Callangan made the all-important free throws in the dying seconds to post a six-point lead that sealed the victory over the Light Bombers.
But the win wasn’t easy.
After leading in the first three quarters, the Junior Altas suddenly took their feet off the gas pedal, allowing the Light Bombers to close the gap to within two points, 76-74, in the final 1:47 of play.
Daep, however, scored on an undergoal shot to post a four-point lead before Callangan knocked down his charities in the final stretch to stretch the lead to 6 for the final count, 85-78.
Lee Marin posted 24 points, two rebounds and three steals for the Light Bombers, who suffered their fourth loss in six matches.
