Action in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Play-in tournament heats up Tuesday as Chery Tiggo and Cignal prepare for high-octane matches at the Philsports Arena.
In the opening game at 4 p.m., the Crossovers will aim for their second straight win as they take on Farm Fresh.
Chery Tiggo will bank on its momentum after sweeping Nxled in its previous match, snapping a four-game losing streak and keeping its quarterfinal hopes alive.
‘We have to listen to our coaches and stay relentless because these games are no joke anymore. We’re going all-out.’
Team captain Cess Robles, alongside veteran Shaya Adorador, played key roles in the Crossovers’ resurgence against the Chameleons, steering their squad a step closer to the lone quarterfinal berth in Pool B.
“For me, there’s no more doubt. This is it. We just need to do our jobs and achieve our goal,” said Robles, a former National University standout.
Adorador echoed the same sentiment, stressing the importance of maintaining their aggressive approach.
“Our mindset remains the same, we need a killer instinct, and we hope to carry this into our match against Farm Fresh.”
“We have to listen to our coaches and stay relentless because these games are no joke anymore. We’re going all-out.”
Farm Fresh, which had previously swept Akari in the preliminaries, fell short in their rematch, bowing in five grueling sets during the qualifying round last Tuesday.
The Foxies will be banking on key players Rachel Daquis, Trisha Tubu, and Jolina dela Cruz to turn things around and avenge their preliminary-round loss to Chery Tiggo last January.
Meanwhile, in the second match at 6:30 p.m., Cignal will battle ZUS Coffee in another crucial showdown.
The HD Spikers demonstrated their championship pedigree in their last outing, overcoming a gritty Capital1 squad to secure their first win in the play-in tournament.
Vanie Gandler and Rosely Doria-Aquino spearheaded Cignal’s offense against the Solar Spikers and will need to replicate their stellar performances to get past the relentless Thunderbelles.
Libero Dawn Cantindig, who led the team’s defense, emphasized the importance of confidence heading into their upcoming matches.
“We’re happy that we regained our confidence, and that’s what we will carry moving forward in our next games.”
On the other side, ZUS Coffee faces an uphill battle after suffering a tough four-set loss to PLDT in the qualifying round.
The Thunderbelles struggled with composure in crunch time, a setback they must overcome if they hope to keep their quarterfinal dreams alive.
For ZUS Coffee, offensive and defensive dominance from Chai Troncoso, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Chinnie Arroyo, and Thea Gagate will be crucial in countering Cignal’s firepower as they begin their journey in the play-in tournament.
