Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon led an inspection of major transport infrastructure in the Visayas on Saturday, 8 March 2025, as part of the government's efforts to enhance connectivity and ease commuter burdens.
Dizon first visited Iloilo International Airport, where he assessed terminal facilities and discussed unsolicited proposals for its rehabilitation, operation, and expansion. He later toured the Visayas Container Terminal with Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago to evaluate ongoing port developments.
In Bohol, Dizon inspected Bohol-Panglao International Airport, which recently entered a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) deal in December 2024 with Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. to manage, operate, and expand the airport.
He also visited Mactan-Cebu International Airport, where he was joined by DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Jim Sydiongco and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Raul Del Rosario to review ongoing operations.
To conclude his first regional visit since taking office, Dizon met with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, where they discussed key transport projects, including the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) system.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) reaffirmed its commitment to modernizing ports and airports, improving connectivity, and enhancing passenger experiences across the country.
