Dognapping happens as shown by a pet shop in Centennial, Colorado, USA being targeted by a pair of thieves on 21 February.
Two men entered the Perfect Pets store and used deception to divert the staff’s attention. Based on the store’s CCTV footage, one of the men fell flat on the floor, faking a seizure, as reported by the New York Post.
When the staff and customers gathered around the fallen man, his companion grabbed two bulldog puppies from one of the display cases and dashed for the door.
The video shows two female employees of Perfect Pets trying to stop the thief, causing him to stumble and drop one of the puppies. However, the dognapper stood up, ran outside, and escaped in a getaway vehicle.
The accomplice was arrested, and police are hunting for the other suspect.
The aquarium veterinarian grew concerned about the sunfish’s health and speculated that it might be depressed due to the absence of visitors.
Meanwhile, staff at an aquarium in Japan used some creativity to uplift the spirits of a solitary sunfish displayed in its tank, as reported by The Asahi Shimbun (TAS).
When the Kaikyokan aquarium in Kochi Prefecture closed for renovation in December, staff noticed the sunfish losing weight and its appetite for jellyfish. It also began rubbing its head against the tank’s acrylic glass, through which aquarium visitors usually watch the fish.
The aquarium veterinarian grew concerned about the sunfish’s health and speculated that it might be depressed due to the absence of visitors.
Moe Miyazawa, 27, the sunfish’s handler, told TAS that the 80-centimeter-long creature was friendly toward humans and used to swim toward people peering into the tank.
Miyazawa then created cutouts of human faces, taped them to the tank glass, and hung staff uniforms below the heads.
The sunfish responded positively to the fake onlookers. It began eating jellyfish the day after the “visitor” images were put up and gradually stopped rubbing its head against the tank, according to TAS.
Kaikyokan posted a photo of the sunfish’s depression and recovery on X, which attracted 14 million views by 5 February.
