Davao City is launching a series of anti-rabies vaccination and education campaigns for cats and dogs, according to the City Veterinarian Office (CVO).
CVO acting assistant department head Dr. Gay Pallar said the city will conduct anti-rabies vaccinations in barangays and information drives to raise awareness about rabies.
This year’s theme is “Rabies-free na pusa’t aso, kaligtasan ng pamilyang Pilipino” (Rabies-free cats and dogs, safety of the Filipino family),” Pallar said.
The CVO’s rabies control program includes population control through castration or neutering, anti-rabies vaccinations, information campaigns on responsible pet ownership and rabies awareness, and regular impounding activities.
“Dabawenyos may avail of the castration and anti-rabies vaccination services of the CVO for free,” Pallar said at a recent ISpeak Forum.
Pet owners who wish to have their cats and dogs castrated are required to bring the pet’s vaccination card, Manila paper, seven gauze pads, 250 milliliters of alcohol, 3-ply tissue, three 1-milliliter syringes, three 3-milliliter syringes and an E-collar.
