Filipino designers are global. In any country, there’s at least one Pinoy design talent, artist, student or aspirant -- someone with an ambition to try their luck in a different market, perhaps looking for change or break from monotony, or a challenge or even going through self-discovery. Whatever the reasons are, Pinoy talent is universal -- and just recently history made a new mark for Filipino pride and artistry.
On 8 February at 4W43 New York City, the FILIPINXT Fall Winter 2025 Show debuted as an official part of New York Fashion Week (www.NYFW.com), marking a significant milestone for Filipino fashion on the global stage.
FILIPINXT recognized at New York Fashion Week — a platform that shapes global trends and influences the industry’s future — marks a transformative step for Filipino fashion.
It now solidifies FILIPINXT’s place in NYFW’s prestigious line-up in the coming seasons. This global interest underscores the growing presence and influence of Filipino designers, creatives and entrepreneurs in fashion and other industries.
Bessie Besana, COO and co-founder, added, “The world is ready for Filipino fashion, and FILIPINXT is here to make sure our voices are heard. Every collection we present tells a story of resilience, heritage and innovation.”
The historical event presented Filipino designers’ collections that showcased Filipino heritage with modern innovation.
Gabby Garcia’s Tagpi debuted “Tahak” presented a blend of Filipino handwoven textiles and modern silhouettes.
Jasmine Baac’s Bagoyan showcased “Bagoyan Rising”— a powerful tribute to Kalinga heritage through bold, handcrafted designs.
Leo Bartolome of Edited Limited and Adante Leyesa collaborated on “Tough Love,” which brilliantly interpreted the artistic fusion of avant-garde streetwear and intricate accessories.
Lastly, Besana’s “Rays of Twilight” was a toast to romanticism and sophistication, highlighting delicate fabrication such as Chantilly lace, silk and tulle.
FILIPINXT is a movement -- not just about fashion, cultural representation, creative empowerment and global impact. Each show banners a thriving community of Filipino talents. Rob Mallari-D’Auria, CEO and co-founder, highlighted the platform’s mission: “FILIPINXT is a movement showcasing Filipino excellence and ensure recognition of designers, artists and creatives on a global stage.”
Consul General Senen T. Mangalile emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “This is a historic breakthrough, one that cements the undeniable presence and influence of Filipino artistry in global fashion. The Philippine Consulate General in New York has been honored to support this movement since its inception.”
Richard Estrella, marketing and operations director, echoed these sentiments: “The overwhelming international media coverage we received is a testament to the growing global interest in Filipino talent. FILIPINXT has become a bridge between cultures, proving that our designs, craftsmanship, and creativity belong on the world stage.”
