Dumpsters serve an added purpose during winter. A homeless man in Omaha, Nebraska, USA went inside a dumpster to warm up amid the freezing temperatures. The next thing, however, a banging sound could be heard around the neighborhood.

A garbage truck had arrived and emptied the dumpster, throwing the homeless man into the back of the truck which held the trash. The man started banging on the inside of the truck as it made its rounds, Local 12 reports.

Two rescuers eventually pulled the trapped guy out of the truck and an ambulance took him to the hospital on a stretcher. Local firefighters said the man was injured but he survived after being treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, a computer hard disk drive that held very important data was accidentally thrown away during a house cleanup.

James Howells had not gotten over the loss that happened in August 2013 and still wanted to look for it at the dumpsite in the Docksway Landfill in Newport, Wales.

Howells asked the Newport City Council for permission to dig up the site in 2021, but it refused due to the environmental impact, even rejecting his offer to pay more than $70 million for the undertaking.

He is not giving up though and is determined to recover the disk drive containing bitcoin transaction keys, which are his proof of ownership of the precious cryptocurrency.

Howells’ mined bitcoins were worth $9 million when he lost the hard drive. Their value today is almost $800 million, as the price of the cryptocurrency has soared in recent years, CNN reports.

He would buy the landfill and dig there, he said in a post on X on 13 February, adding that he has secured funding for the ambitious plan, according to CNN.
