Kristina Knott logged a new national record in the women’s 200-meter event after clocking in 23.39 seconds in the Arkansas Qualifiers in Fayetteville, Arkansas last Saturday (Manila time).

Knott, 29, erased her previous record of 23.45 seconds she set last week in the 2025 Don Kirby Elite Indoor at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico.

Rejoice Sule of Nigeria settled for a silver medal after clocking in 23.41 seconds while Maryam Toosi of Iran secured the bronze medal after tallying 23.47 seconds.

Despite Knott’s time still being reviewed, the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (Patafa) already congratulated her for setting a new standard.

“She powered through the 200m short track at the Arkansas Qualifiers, setting a new Philippine Indoor record of 23.39s (pending ratification),” the federation said.

“Keep improving, KK! Congratulations!”

Knott also clocked in 7.39 seconds in the women’s 60m event but only finished in fifth place out of eight sprinters.

The Filipino-American’s fastest time in the 60m event was 7.26 seconds that she tallied in the American Track League #2 in Arkansas in 2021.

Nigerian sprinter Joy Udo-Gabriel conquered the event with a time of 7.24 seconds while Leah Bertrand of Trinidad and Tobago clocked 7.25 seconds.

Sade McCreath-Tardiel of Canada clocked in 7.28 seconds to finish with a bronze medal.
