Gilas Pilipinas suffered a 55-86 loss to Egypt to cap its campaign in the Doha International Cup at the QU Sports & Events Complex in Qatar early Monday.
Gilas finished with a 1-2 win-loss record as they finished third in the four-nation tournament that also includes Lebanon and the Qataris.
The Philippines previously lost to the Lebanese, 54-75, last Sunday.
Gilas had a slim 19-18 lead entering the second quarter when Amr Zahran drained a triple with 9:18 on the clock to start a 12-4 run for the Egyptians and never looked back.
Egypt outhustled the Philippines in rebounding, 47-32, and bullied its way to the basket with 36 points in the paint.
Ehab Amin Saleh led the Egyptians with 20 points, six rebounds, and eight assists while Zahran had 12 points as won all three games en route to the title.
Justin Brownlee had 18 points as Gilas will fly back to the Philippines on Monday before flying to Taiwan on Tuesday for the third round of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
