Choco Mucho extended its winning streak to five after surviving gritty Nxled, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-10, in a thrilling five-set encounter in the 2024-2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
It was not pretty but head coach Dante Alinsunurin was relieved his wards pulled through.
“A win is a win,” he said as his squad improved to a 7-3 win-loss record.
“Nxled displayed so well and stuck with us even after we made some adjustments.”
The Flying Titans had to dig deep to overcome the Chameleons, who took a 2-1 match lead and even threatened to come back late in the fourth frame.
Choco Mucho star Sisi Rodina led the charge with a stellar 23-point performance, delivering 21 attacks, a block, and an ace. Isa Molde backed her up with 12 markers while Maika Ortiz and Dindin Santiago-Manabat chipped in nine points each.
With momentum shifting to their side, the Flying Titans raced to a 4-0 start in the deciding frame and kept their distance all the way to complete a come-from-behind win.
The loss was a tough blow for Nxled, especially after breaking a 15-game losing streak in their previous outing against Galeries Tower.
EJ Laure paced the Chameleons, who threw away 35 points off errors, with 20 points built on 17 attacks, two service aces, and a block.
May Luna-Lumahan added 17 markers, while Lucille Almonte finished with 11 for Nxled, which slipped to a 1-9 slate.
