While dating apps are prevalent, there are still matchmakers to whom singles can turn for help in finding a date or romance. Matchmakers, however, face challenges if their clients are too specific about the qualities they are looking for in a partner.
Matchmaker Blaine Anderson of Austin, Texas told Daily Mail that she rejects men applying to be a client if their criteria is a body count or rating.
Carly and Janis Spindel of Serious Matchmaking in New York City told Daily Mail that they heed basic requests like age preference and certain physical traits, but find requests for academic achievement irrelevant.
For those matched for a date, there could still be a quirky result.
Brazilian influencer Rosana Ferreira, 38, recalled a nightmare date to Jam Press. After the incident, the Instagrammer with 152,000 followers vowed not to split the bill on dates, New York Post (NYP) reports.
“A man who can’t afford to pay for the first date, considering all the expenses women incur to get ready like hair, makeup and clothes, shows he doesn’t value the effort the other person puts in,” the single mom declared, according to NYP. “The date invests money, I invest my time.”
Ferreira said she and her “interesting” date went to a juice bar and everything was going fine until it was time to pay the bill.
Her date suggested that they split the $8 bill for the two juices they had ordered.
“I paid my share, thanked him for the date and left, but there was no second date,” Ferreira told NYP.
