LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — This capital of Benguet Province, in a bid to boost its coffee industry launched its 8th Coffee Festival at the La Trinidad Municipal Grounds Monday.

The festival will run until 16 February with the theme “Brewing Unity Through Coffee." The annual Coffee Festival started in 2017 strengthened by a municipal ordinance which was passed to support and further improve the coffee industry in the municipality.

La Trinidad Municipal Mayor Romeo Salda said the holding of the festival is to promote La Trinidad’s coffee as among the best in the province and the Cordillera region. He added this will encourage local farmers and growers to collaborate with various stakeholders in the coffee industry for other support and possible improvements.

Municipal agriculturist Nida Organo said in the past, the celebration is focused on coffee producers and growers. “This time we considered the coffee shops who utilize the local coffee produced in the municipality," she stressed.

Prior to the launching, the local government of La Trinidad conducted a search for the best coffee shop in town. This is part of the recognition of coffee shops as partners of the coffee planters and growers of the town.
