Pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena failed to make it to the podium of the ISTAF Indoor in Dusseldorf, Germany after finishing in seventh place Sunday evening (Manila time).
This is Obiena's first tournament in this year's indoor season where he failed to get a medal after winning the gold at the Metz Moselle Athletor in France hours prior.
Obiena tallied 5.55 meters in the German tilt.
The two-time Olympian skipped 5.65m and 5.70m as he aimed to get over 5.75m.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old failed to get over 5.75m after three tries.
Home bet Torben Blech took the gold afer going over 5.80m while Paris Olmpics silver medalist Sam Kendricks settled for a silver medal after going over 5.70m.
Ersu Sasma of Turkey also got 5.70m but got a bronze medal due to countback.
