BYD continues to push the EV shift in the Philippines, selling 4,780 NEVs and reinforcing its lead in electric mobility with accessible, innovative solutions.
BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility, the brand’s official distributor in the country, reached a major milestone in the NEV market. The Ayala-backed mobility platform sold 4,780 BYD passenger vehicles in 2024, securing an 82 percent share of the country’s NEV market.
Among these, 2,078 units were models such as the BYD Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han and Tang. BYD also led the BEV segment with a 69 percent market share in 2024.
The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i stood out as the brand’s best-seller, with 2,669 units sold in 2024. From its market launch in July until December, it also dominated the combined NEV and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) categories, holding a 19 percent market share.
The remarkable sales performance of its electric vehicle offerings propelled BYD’s overall growth by an astounding 8,900 percent in 2024 compared to 2023 sales. Strong sales confirmed BYD’s rank as the 11th best-selling automotive brand in the Philippines, with a 1.0 percent market share, even bettering several established big automotive players and other Chinese brands.

BYD also set another global sales record in 2024, complementing this impressive local achievement. Last year, BYD sold 4,272,145 NEVs globally, up 41.26 percent from 2023. This milestone is the first time BYD has sold more than 4 million units in one year. The new sales record makes BYD the undisputed global new energy vehicle market sales champion.
“We are beyond thrilled to share our performance in 2024, marking a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines,” Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines; said. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we will continue driving the Philippines toward a smarter and greener future with innovative and accessible solutions.”
BYD’s extraordinary success was electrified by its state-of-the-art lineup of electric vehicles. The brand’s best-selling model, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, also commanded a 14.6 percent share in the overall Compact-SUV market in 2024 and a 25.9 percent market share in the same segment from July to December last year.
BYD Cars Philippines also sold 1,062 units of the BYD Atto 3 subcompact crossover in 2024. The country’s top-selling BEV has taken a 35 percent market share in the segment as it provided Filipinos with a comfortable and reliable blade battery-powered electric mobility solution.
The BYD Seagull was the brand’s third-best-selling nameplate, with 411 units released to customers in 2024. Introduced in the Philippines only in September last year, the BYD Seagull had a 38 percent share of the BEV segment in the last quarter of 2024 while taking 14 percent of the overall BEV market for the whole year.
These impressive results highlight Filipinos’ increasing acceptance of electric vehicles, marking a significant step toward a brighter, greener future.
