The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration’s (OWWA) new logo, unveiled on 5 February, draws inspiration from the creator’s personal experience.
The new design was created by Ravve Jay Prevendido and Mherie Vic Prevendido, a couple from Iloilo, as part of OWWA’s logo-making contest.
According to Ravve, their inspiration came from personal experience, as his wife’s father was once an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who went abroad to support the family after her sister was diagnosed with an illness.
“That’s just one of the heartbreaking stories of why Filipinos leave their families to work overseas,” Prevendido said.
He added that joining the contest was a way to fulfill his dream of contributing to the government. Mherie Vic shared that it took about a year to finalize the logo’s design.
The new OWWA logo features three stars representing the collaboration between the government, OFWs, and the private sector. It also includes red sun rays symbolizing the agency’s functions and a hugging figure to reflect its commitment to OFWs.
OWWA clarified that no government funds were spent on the creation of the new logo.
