First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has added a significant piece to her art collection: A stunning portrait painted by renowned artist Lulu Coching-Rodriguez.
Mrs. Marcos on Wednesday took to her social media account to express her heartfelt gratitude to Lulu, praising the artist’s incredible talent.
She highlighted how deeply impressed she was by Lulu’s skill and the beauty of the portrait, acknowledging the meaningful contribution the artwork makes to preserving such an iconic moment.
“Here’s a fun fact: Lulu is the same incredible artist who painted the portraits of all the First Ladies currently displayed at the Presidential Museum in Teus Mansion. She came out of retirement to do mine. So kind of you to do this, Lulu. I’ll cherish this forever!” Mrs. Marcos said.
Rodriguez, daughter of National Artist and legendary illustrator Francisco Coching, has long been the artist behind the faces of Philippine leadership.
Beyond First Ladies, she was also entrusted with the official portraits of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and former Presidents Benigno Aquino III, Cory Aquino, Fidel V. Ramos and Joseph Estrada.
In 2003, she cemented her legacy with Philippine First Ladies Portraits, a book she co-authored with her husband, Spanish journalist Jose R. Rodriguez.
The collection showcases the painted portraits of iconic presidential spouses, including Aurora Quezon, Leonila Garcia, Evangelina Macaraeg-Macapagal, Imelda Marcos and Luz Banzon-Magsaysay.
Now, with First Lady Liza Marcos joining the ranks of those immortalized on canvas, Rodriguez adds yet another masterpiece to her unparalleled portfolio — a fitting tribute to a leader’s legacy through the eyes of an artist who has captured history.
Netizens were quick to share their admiration and appreciation, flooding social media with praise for the portrait.
“This portrait captures Liza’s elegance perfectly. A true masterpiece,” one netizen commented.
“Art meets elegance in this beautiful portrait. Congratulations, FL Liza,” another added.
