The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) will kick off the year with its Trade and Connect event, “Forecasting 2025: UK-PH Economic Perspectives,” on 30 January 2025 at the Makati Commerce Tower. This gathering will provide insights into the economic outlook for 2025 and the future of UK-Philippines trade relations.
The event, supported by Colliers as its venue partner and Daily Tribune as a media partner, will feature distinguished speakers and panelists, including Trade Secretary Hon. Ma. Cristina Roque, Budget Secretary Hon. Amenah Pangandaman, Trade Undersecretary Hon. Allan B. Gepty, British Ambassador Laure Beaufils, PNB Economist Alvin Arogo, and ACG CEO Mon Abrea.
With total trade between the UK and the Philippines reaching £2.9 billion by mid-2024, the BCCP is optimistic about sustaining growth, particularly in key commodities such as meat, pharmaceuticals, and electrical goods, alongside services like telecommunications and finance.
The event will spotlight the 2025 General Appropriations Act and the Philippine Development Plan, emphasizing initiatives in food security, infrastructure, digital transformation, and public-private partnerships. Discussions will also explore investment strategies in renewable energy, retail, real estate, manufacturing, and agriculture.
BCCP Executive Director Chris Nelson emphasized the importance of policy reforms, noting, “The development of key policy reforms serve as a promising step toward a more transparent, efficient, and business-friendly environment that encourages foreign investors to engage and choose the Philippines as their primary investment destination in the region.”
This event sets the stage for strengthening bilateral trade ties and fostering economic collaboration between the two nations.
