Tipping is a significant source of income for restaurant workers in the United States, but not all tipping experiences go as they should.
Brittany Baker, a waitress at a Perkins Restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota, recently confronted a customer who attempted to take money from a tip left on a table she had served. The incident, which occurred on 19 January, was captured on video by Baker, a mother of six, and quickly went viral on TikTok.
In the video, Baker is heard telling the man that the tip belonged to her and demanding its return, as reported by Daily Mail. The man handed back only $2 from what Baker believed to be a $7 tip.
“I don’t feel he gave the full amount back,” Baker told Valley News Live, according to Daily Mail.
To her dismay, Baker later saw the same man stealing tips from other servers in the restaurant.
In another incident involving tipping, a delivery worker for Rock Star Pizza in Brownsburg, Indiana, demonstrated extraordinary dedication during last week’s dangerous snowstorm.
Connor Stephanoff had to walk half a mile to deliver a $40 order after a school bus crash blocked the road. On his return, Avon Police Department Lt. Richard Craig noticed Stephanoff walking back to his car along the snow-covered street and advised him to use the sidewalk, New York Post reported.
Craig asked Stephanoff if he had received a good tip. Stephanoff replied that he had been tipped only $2.
Stunned by the meager amount, especially from a customer in an affluent neighborhood, Craig was impressed by Stephanoff’s dedication and positive attitude. Without hesitation, Craig handed him $15 and later set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of raising $500 to support the hardworking delivery driver.
By 18 January donations for Stephanoff had surged past the goal, reaching an impressive $16,000.
