MARIVELES, Bataan — Unidentified armed men shot and killed in broad daylight Saturday afternoon two businessmen in Barangay Baseco, Mariveles, Bataan.
Lt. Col. Dennis Orbista, chief of police, identified the victims as Laurence Javier y Rico, 38 years old, married, contractor at Mariveles Grain Corporation, a permanent resident of Prk 3-A New Society Village, Ilang, Davao City; and Roselito Camia, of legal age, and also a resident of Davao del Sur.
Based on the account of the witness, police gathered that while the two victims were heading to Mariveles Grain Corporation, they noticed a Black Sedan following the victims’ vehicle.
Orbista said that upon reaching the scene of the incident, the victims parked their vehicle in front of the MGC gate.
Suddenly, four men, armed with m16 rifle and a Cal. 45 pistol, alighted from their sedan and shot the victims multiple times, which resulted in the death of the victims.
“We have a person of interest and our troops are already in the area looking into the shooting incident,” said Col. Palmer Z. Tria, Bataan police director.
He said they are looking into a business-related incident, among others.
As of press time, policemen blocked the roads in the area.
A follow-up operation and continuous operations are being conducted by the police to identify the suspects.
