What’s next for Suarez?

World No. 1 super-featherweight Charly Suarez remains in the hunt for a fight that could finally lead to a title shot.

But his turn to secure a crack at a world crown may take some more time since there’s no scheduled date even for an activity fight.

Contacted by DAILY TRIBUNE, Carl Moretti, the vice president of Top Rank, said it is “too early to tell” if the undefeated Filipino is being lined up to meet Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete, the 130-lb division’s top dog.

Both Navarrete and Suarez are under contract with Top Rank.

Last time Suarez fought, the Davao del Sur native stopped Jorge Castañeda in Arizona last September.

Before that, Suarez did the same to another Hispanic fighter, Luis Coria in Corpus Christi in Texas.

But Suarez is no longer content with ordinary fights.

The 2014 Asian Games silver medalist wants the big one.

Even his chief trainer and former amateur pal Delfin Boholst is getting impatient knowing all too well that his fighter is not getting any younger.

At 36 years old, time is running out for Suarez.
