Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), has been diagnosed with pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) reported on Tuesday, 21 January.
BJMP Spokesperson Jayrex Bustinera stated that Quiboloy is now confined in a private hospital after experiencing difficulty breathing. Following an assessment by the BJMP physician, it was recommended that Quiboloy be brought to the nearest government hospital for proper medical intervention.
According to Bustinera, Quiboloy was initially transported by BJMP personnel from the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) on Saturday, 18 January 2025, at around 5 PM. However, due to the hospital's limited facilities, doctors recommended transferring him to a hospital of his choice.
"We assure the public that PDL [Person Deprived of Liberty] Quiboloy remains under BJMP custody and that strict security is in place while he is confined in the hospital," Bustinera said.
Quiboloy is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail in connection with a qualified human trafficking case being heard by the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159.
