Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, has contracted pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) reported on Tuesday.
BJMP spokesperson Jayrex Bustinera confirmed that Quiboloy is currently confined in a private hospital.
Bustinera said Quiboloy complained of difficulty breathing, prompting the BJMP physician to recommend his transfer to the nearest government hospital.
Quiboloy was transferred from the Pasig City Jail male dormitory to the Rizal Medical Center on Saturday, 18 January at around 5 p.m. However, due to the facility’s limited resources, doctors advised that he be transferred to a hospital of his choice.
“We assure the public that PDL Quiboloy remains under BJMP custody, with strict security measures in place during his hospital confinement,” Bustinera said.
Quiboloy is currently detained in connection with a qualified human trafficking case being heard by Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159.
