Go inaugurates super health center in Cebu, expanding healthcare access

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go attended the inauguration of the Super Health Center in Moalboal, Cebu, on Sunday, as part of his ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access for Filipinos, especially in rural areas.

During the event, Go highlighted the importance of these health centers in providing primary care services and medical consultations. “Ang mahalaga po ay maibigay natin ang tamang serbisyong medikal sa bawat Pilipino. Hindi po dapat maging hadlang ang kahirapan para makapagpa-check-up o magpagamot,” he said.

The Moalboal Super Health Center is designed to reduce the strain on larger hospitals by providing local access to healthcare services. It will offer consultations, early disease detection, and free services through partnerships with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation's (PhilHealth) Konsulta program.

Go, known for his health reform advocacy, pledged to continue his efforts to expand Super Health Centers nationwide.

The facility in Moalboal is part of a broader initiative to establish over 600 Super Health Centers nationwide, with 100 more expected this year. Cebu province will receive 21 such centers, enhancing local healthcare infrastructure.

Go also acknowledged the support of local officials, including Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, and Moalboal Mayor Inocentes Cabaron, who played key roles in the center's establishment.

The senator urged locals to also take advantage of nearby Malasakit Centers, which provide additional healthcare services. “Gamitin po natin ang Malasakit Centers para sa inyong pangangailangang medikal. Nandiyan po ang gobyerno para tumulong sa inyo,” Go said.

The event was marked by the distribution of grocery packs, meals, and shirts to attendees, with Go emphasizing his commitment to serving communities with compassion. He also visited Cebu City later that day to participate in the Sinulog Festival and visit the Malasakit Center at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, where he provided support to patients and staff.
