LAMITAN CITY, Basilan — The Ministry of Public Works (MPW-BDEO) has issued a stern warning to contractors in the province who are experiencing noticeable slippage in their infrastructure projects funded by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through the MPW.
MPW Basilan District Engineer Kasim A. Hasanin said yesterday the warning was issued to contractors after they incurred a significant slippage in the infrastructure project or projects awarded to them by the MPW-BDEO.
Hasanin said, “We have to be strict sometimes with contractors in order for them to speed up the projects awarded to them.”
The district engineer also reported that all infrastructure projects undertaken by his office and funded by MPW under the “regular infrastructure project fund” were completed on time.
He said that contractors who do not listen to his warning might lose their privilege to participate in any forthcoming MPW-BDEO bidding of infrastructure in the province.
According to some contractors in the province, Hasanin is personally monitoring all infrastructure projects and is conducting personal visits to all construction sites.
This is one reason why some of us could not catch him at his office because he is always out inspecting projects of MPW-BDEO all over the province including those that are located in islands, the contractors said.
