Players usually make sports spectacular. It was different though during a hockey game in Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA on 5 January.
The Hershey Bears Hockey Club was playing against the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League at the Giant Center arena. When Hershey forward Mike Sgarbossa scored a goal at 14:45 of the first period to tie the game at 1-1, it signaled the Teddy Bear Toss, Yahoo! reported.
The stunt, done by the team yearly, saw the audience throw teddy bears onto the ice rink. They threw some 100,000 stuffed animals to set a new world record, according to Yahoo!
A video of teddy bears raining down on the rink went viral on Instagram. It showed players jumping on top of the piles of teddy bears. The stuffed toys were later collected and the interrupted game resumed.
Last year, Hershey fans filled the arena with 74,599 teddy bears.
Meanwhile, a video of a village basketball game with a twist on Christmas Day went viral on social media.
The video shared by Mace Digu to GMA News showed the intense but fun game at the basketball court in Sitio Datal Fitak, Barangay Assumption, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
There were extra players on the court, running was exhausting, shooting was difficult, and they were tumbling to the floor as the audience roared with laughter.
The male players were carrying their wives on their backs while dribbling and shooting the ball to the delight of the crowd.
The community staged the game to give joy and enhance the camaraderie of the residents, according to GMA News.
