A man has fearlessly solo climbed a 500-foot rock called El Matador in Wyoming, USA.
Jesse Dufton reached the top, guided by his wife, Molly,
who talked to him from the ground via a two-way radio and headset. She pinpointed the cracks, columns, handholds, footholds and overhangs on the rock he could use to move up. This was necessary as Dufton is blind.
The 39-year-old Dufton started climbing as a child and continued the sport even after he lost his vision to a degenerative eye condition called cone-rod dystrophy before he turned 12, CNN reports.
By the day’s end, he had become the first blind climber to summit El Matador.
Molly also loves climbing and they always do it together for his safety. The pair have climbed over 2,000 mountains together, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, a mother in Concord, North Carolina went blind after figuring in a bizarre accident in December.
The woman’s daughter, Ria Faggart, posted on TikTok a video of her mother in the hospital with her eyes shut, and it went viral.
Faggart said in the post that her mother will be out of work for five to seven weeks as doctors determine any damage to her eyes.
“Hi, if you are here, then you have seen the viral video of my mother. She has glued her eyes shut,” the daughter told Fox 4 Dallas.
