The Supreme Court (SC) recently launched its first-ever Regional Mental Health Unit (RMHU) in Judicial Region I, demonstrating its commitment to the well-being of its employees.
The launch, led by Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez in San Fernando City, underscores the tribunal’s recognition of its workforce as a crucial asset.
“This Mental Health Unit is more than just an office. It is a statement from the Supreme Court that our employees are the most critical asset of the judiciary,” Lopez said.
“We recognize that as the frontliners in the administration of justice, we must take good care, not only of your physical health, but also of your mental health,” he added.
Lopez also stressed the importance of prioritizing mental well-being, not only for personal reasons but also to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the judicial system.
“In doing so, you will not only be taking care of yourself, but you are also contributing to a more efficient and effective judicial system,” Lopez said.
Through the RMHU, court personnel can access a range of support services, including online and in-person mental health first aid, psychiatric and psychological consultations, psychosocial support and confidential counseling.
The promotion of mental health aligns with the Supreme Court’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations (2022-2027) and is also integrated into the high court’s comprehensive health care plan.
