QC government launches community-based cervical cancer screening program

The Quezon City government unveiled its Community-Based Cervical Cancer Screening Program during a press conference at the QC Health Office on Wednesday, 15 January 2025. The initiative will utilize a self-sampling HPV DNA testing model in local health centers, with support from civil society and private sector organizations. The program targets screening 20,000 women using high-performance tests, aiming to combat cervical cancer — the second most common cancer among Filipino women — which claims an estimated 12 lives daily, according to Dr. Karen See, Cancer Control Coordinator of the Quezon City Health Department.
