CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Provincial Government is set to conduct the cleanup and dredging of waterways in this city to prevent seasonal flooding.
Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, along with barangay chairmen, officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Megaworld Corp. held a meeting at the Capitol Building on Monday for the proposed project.
The meeting tackled the plans on the desilting and dredging of the waterways after the committee were presented with drone shots along with ground assessment that showed the narrowing of canals in the city.
The meeting identified barangays that should be prioritized for the project that needs dredging, which will be funded by the DPWH, as well as the utilization of heavy machineries from the Capitol and the National Irrigation Administration.
The barangays of Magliman, San Juan, San Felipe, San Nicolas and Del Pilar are set to be prioritized for the dredging project as a total of 5,570 meters of creeks and rivers encompasses the aforementioned areas.
Governor Pineda said that the project was conducted early wthis year to revive the creeks and rivers in preparation for the rainy season and prevent flooding at the said Capitol City of Pampanga.
Also present during the meeting are city councilor Ricky Hizon, special assistant to the governor Angelina Blanco, PG-ENRO head Arthur Punsalan, provincial engineer Noli Pangan and provincial assessor Manuel Mendoza Jr.
