The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Wednesday said it has arrested two Chinese nationals for the alleged kidnapping of their compatriot in Cavite.
PNP-CIDG Director PBGen. Nicolas Torre III identified the suspects as Zhou and Juncheng, both Chinese nationals who illegally detained victims, identified as Yuanjie and Yuanhao, also Chinese nationals, in Brgy. Pascam 1, General Trias, Cavite.
Torre said the suspects were asking ransom demands from the relatives of the victims.
A police operation was launched following a complaint from a certain Mak, who revealed that two of his friends had been illegally detained and extorted by two suspects.
The operating police unit successfully rescued the victims and arrested the suspects.
Confiscated from the suspects were two genuine P1,000 bills; 300 pieces of P500 boodle money; 298 pieces of P1,000 boodle money; a Colt Pistol Caliber .45; a magazine for a .45 caliber; and ammunition.
The arrested suspects are now facing charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by RA 1084, and for Violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act under R.A. 10591.
Torre stressed that the suspects were properly informed of their constitutional rights and brought to the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU-CIDG) office for documentation and disposition.
The case has been referred for inquest proceedings.
