Negros Power has electrified three underserved communities in Negros Occidental, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to improving lives in remote areas.

On 17 December, residents of Sitio Bocboc, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, celebrated as 20 out of 35 households were connected to the power grid. The event, attended by local government officials and Negros Power representatives, was marked with cheers despite inclement weather.

The initiative continued on 20 December in Purok 8, Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City, where 37 out of 64 households were energized. The event highlighted the company’s dedication to providing electricity to underserved areas, with Bacolod City officials and barangay leaders in attendance.

In Purok Citrus, Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Power team members navigated over a kilometer of rugged terrain to connect 47 households to the grid. The effort was met with gratitude from the community.

“We are so happy! The whole community is overjoyed,” said Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Lawrence Marxlen Dela Cruz. “I am grateful, thankful, and proud of Negros Power for helping us achieve this long-held dream of having electricity in this area.”

Negros Power Chief Operating Officer Engr. Bernard Bailey Del Castillo expressed satisfaction with the successful projects.

“It is so fulfilling to see our customers so happy. Our goal was to bring light to these sitios before the year ends, and we have achieved that. More sitios will be energized in the next three years," he said.

Negros Power President and CEO Roel Castro reaffirmed the company’s commitment to electrifying all areas within its franchise.

“We are dedicated to electrifying all residents in our franchise area, no matter how remote or challenging. Every consumer deserves access to electricity, and we will continue to work tirelessly to make that happen,” Castro stated.

“These initial three Sitio Electrification Projects are more than just technical achievements; they are a testament to the power of compassion and the transformative impact of bringing light into the lives of those living in darkness,” Castro added. “The joy, gratitude, and hope that illuminated the faces of the residents in these communities is a reminder to us that the true measure of success is not just in the numbers but in the lives that are touched.”

Negros Power plans to expand its electrification efforts, targeting more communities in the coming years.
