The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) disclosed on Sunday that during the holiday rush, several instances of acts of integrity have been reported at airports managed by the agency despite the surge of travelers.
Last 26 December 2024, Rolito Lumagod, Albert Mantilla and Richard Arevario --—representing the Civil Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Engineering Support Services and Infrastructure — discovered P5,000 in cash in the Butuan Airport arrival area corridor.
A similar incident occurred at Puerto Princesa Airport on the same day. CAAP-PPIA AFC personnel Allan Martinez discovered a gray bag containing a brown wallet, cash, a passbook, and numerous identification cards that belonged to a certain name, Virgillo S. Olla Jr. Martinez said that the bag was most likely left in the check-in area on top of a gang chair.
The P5,000 cash found by Martinez was successfully returned to Encarnacion Plaza, an inbound passenger on Flight 5J789 from Manila. Meanwhile, the left-behind gray pouch found at Puerto Princesa Airport remains in the custody of the CSIS office.
