Amid the celebrations after the Philippine national men’s football team defeated Thailand, 2-1, in the first leg of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup semifinals, goalkeeper Quincy Kameraad swears this is just half the battle.
Kameraad said the second leg on Monday at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok won’t be easy as the National will be playing on hostile ground.
With the win, the Philippines currently holds an aggregate 2-1 lead.
“We are still alive but the job is not yet done. All we have to do is win,” said Kameraad, who plays for One Taguig FC in the Philippines Football League.
“It’s obviously going to be very different. The stadium will be jam-packed.”
The War Elephants, the tournament’s defending champions, won’t be backing down easily.
In the first leg, the Thais had more attempts on goal with 14 shots and had the ball for 58 percent of the match.
Should the Philippines win the second leg or force a draw in the second leg, it will book a spot in the final for the first time in this competition.
