As of 6:00 AM on 27 December, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 32 additional cases of firecracker-related injuries, bringing the total to 101 since 22 December.
According to the DOH, the majority of the cases are minor.
Of the total, 82 victims are aged 19 and below, while 19 are aged 20 and above. Among the victims, 92 are male, and eight are female.
Eighty cases, or 79 percent, were caused by illegal fireworks such as boga, 5-star, and piccolo. Additionally, 65 cases, or 64 percent, involved individuals who actively used fireworks.
The DOH has urged the public to refrain from using firecrackers and instead opt for alternative noisemakers, such as trumpets or loud music.
The department also reminded the public that in case of emergencies, assistance can be sought by calling the National Emergency Hotline at 911 or the DOH Hotline at 1555.
