The Christmas rush is no reason to overspeed and patrolmen are on the prowl, ready to apprehend violators.
On Christmas Day, police in Cedar City, Utah, pulled over a car dangerously zooming at 115 miles per hour on a wet Interstate 15.
The apprehension was fortunate for the backseat occupant, a woman holding an infant without restraints.
Driver Jose Crus Bustos Serrano, 35, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, though a sobriety test was inconclusive, KSL TV5 reports.
A faster road maniac was spotted by police in Beverly Hills, Florida, at dusk on 21 December. The rider who was weaving in and out of traffic was clocked by a highway patrol trooper at 120 miles per hour, police said, according to the New York Post (NYP).
A trooper in a patrol car gave chase after the motorcyclist ignored a traffic stop. Dashcam footage showed the rider in a Santa Claus suit veering through multiple lanes of traffic to shake off his pursuer.
The video footage then showed the daring Santa cutting through a gas station and looping back around onto the main road, slowing down the trooper’s cumbersome vehicle, before disappearing into the December dusk, NYP reports.
The Florida Highway Patrol-Tampa posted on its Facebook page a call for the public to help in identifying the overspeeding Santa Claus.
