After the runway was temporarily closed for critical safety repairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported on Monday that Iloilo International Airport has fully returned to its regular operations.
According to CAAP, two potholes were found on Runway 02, which led to the runway closure on 22 December, which took place from 7:15 a.m. until 11 a.m. To resolve the problem and guarantee the security of travelers, flight crews, and aircraft, prompt action was taken.
Last 21 December, a Notice to Airmen was sent out to notify airlines and other interested parties of the urgent repairs. This preventative action reduced interruptions and enabled a smooth reaction.
Three flights (Iloilo-Puerto Princesa, Iloilo-Manila and Iloilo-Cebu) have been canceled, one flight (Manila-Puerto Princesa) has been diverted, and nine flights from Cebu Pacific, AirAsia and Philippine Airlines are affected. Five of these flights are delayed (Iloilo-Manila and Iloilo-General Santos City).
