Asia United Bank (AUB) expanded e-payment services on its e-wallet HelloMoney to over 3 million merchants in Japan through its partnership with Alipay+.

With the partnership between Alipay+ and PayPay, one of Japan’s QR code providers, AUB can process payments from its over six million HelloMoney users to numerous Japan-based merchants.

HelloMoney works with all merchants displaying the Alipay+ logo and the PayPay QR codes. Through Alipay+, AUB clients can also shop in Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia and Hong Kong using digital payments.

“We welcome the continued expansion of the Alipay+ network of partners as this enables AUB to bring HelloMoney closer to more users, making mobile banking easier as well as helping more merchants grow their business globally,” AUB executive vice president and head of Operations and Information Technology Wilfredo Rodriguez Jr. said.

More HelloMoney services

Amid the preparations for the holiday season and the popularity of digital payments, AUB last month relaunched HelloMoney after its client base expanded to over 6 million.

Launched in 2019, HelloMoney has been used by clients to buy prepaid load, remit money through PeraPadala, pay via QR code, settle bills, withdraw via ATM, and shop online using its virtual Mastercard.

HelloMoney users can also manage their Pag-IBIG Fund accounts and perform banking transactions through the Hello Pag-IBIG app.

Moving forward, AUB president Manuel Gomez said the bank will introduce HelloMoney’s microinsurance and digital savings with smart savings solutions, goal-based saving features, and automated savings options.
