Authorities said that a man who held his live-in partner and three children hostage in their home in Taguig City was arrested on Thursday.
The 28-year-old suspect, identified only as “Raymond,” a construction worker, faces charges of illegal detention, direct assault, alarm and scandal, and unlawful possession of bladed, pointed, or blunt weapons.
According to Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office, the hostage-taking incident occurred in Barangay Bagumbayan and stemmed from a domestic dispute.
The suspect, under the influence of alcohol, became violent and assaulted his partner.
Fearing for their safety, the victims, including an 8-month-old infant, sought help from the Barangay Bagumbayan Security Force.
The security force then alerted the Taguig City Police Substation 12, prompting a response from intelligence agents and a SWAT team.
Negotiations with the suspect ensued, and he was eventually arrested by the SWAT team. The victims were unharmed.
