Through its support of comprehensive modernization programs for major airports across the nation, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) emphasizes its dedication to improving the country’s aviation infrastructure.
A major milestone was achieved Wednesday at Malacañang Palace with the signing of a public-private partnership (PPP) deal for the upgrade of Bohol-Panglao International Airport. The signing ceremony was witnessed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
According to the CAAP, a new passenger terminal and other improvements are part of the project, which would greatly increase the airport’s ability to handle 3.9 million passengers a year.
Additionally, plans are underway to develop the New Siargao and New Dumaguete airports. The World Bank International Finance Corporation is providing support to ensure efficient paperwork and bidding processes for these upcoming projects.
CAAP said that these revolutionary projects continue the momentum created by the successful handover of management and operations of Laguindingan Airport to Aboitiz InfraCapital earlier this year and Ninoy Aquino International Airport to New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation.
These collaborations demonstrate how important the resources and experience of the business sector are to updating the country’s aviation infrastructure.
“Our vision for a more connected, competitive, and sustainable Philippines is based on modernizing our airports. These projects will not only improve the travel experience for millions of passengers but also drive economic growth, tourism, and investment opportunities in our country,” CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo stated.
